Clenistine N. Dunson is an educational trailblazer, business education developer and a beloved educator in the Harrisburg School District, where she served and imparted knowledge, self-discipline and educational excellence to thousands of students for more than 40 years. After her retirement in June of 2011, Mrs. Dunson was immediately asked to return as a consultant to take the helm of the District’s “School of Business and Industry (SBI) Honors Prep Program,” which she established two decades earlier. She currently serves as a Secondary Education Reform and Career Pathway Coordinator, and is one of the ma in architects of the District ’s ROAR College and Career Academy Program. Mrs. Dunson is a staunch believer in the effective education of children. In 1991, she achieved academic distinction when she led the charge to establish an innovative, educational partnership between Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University’s School of Business & Industry (SBI) and Harrisburg School District. Mrs. Dunson was responsible for writing, developing and implementing a rigorous and successful three-year curriculum to support the District’s Business and Industry (SBI) Honors Prep Program. The sustainability and relevance of the FAMU/SBI partnership has remained to this very day, and continues to challenge, change and positively influence the trajectory of education and opportunity for students at John Harris Campus. Ninety-nine percent of SBI scholars who have graduated from Harrisburg High School are attending college or have graduated from college, many with Masters and doctorate degrees. Mrs. Dunson has raised and awarded nearly $2.5M in scholarship money to graduating SBI seniors. Mrs. Dunson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Wiley College, and is the recipient of numerous awards, honors and accolades.
