Leland J. Nelson is a proud graduate of the Harrisburg School District and currently serves as the Employment Engagement Coordinator for the District’s ROAR College and Career Academy Program. In this role, Mr. Nelson links students to innovative educational and career development opportunities that prepares them with knowledge and skills needed to be college and career ready. Mr. Nelson also serves as President and Co-founder of Dirty Dog Hauling, a professional junk removal company. Mr. Nelson launched his professional career as an auditor at KPMG LLP in Harrisburg, PA.

In 2011, Mr. Nelson was elected as President of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central PA. He is a charter member of the Greater Harrisburg Chapter of the National Black MBA and a graduate of the inaugural class of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Development Institute of Harrisburg.  Mr. Nelson has held advisory positions at CREDC, Uplift Incorporated, the Mayor’s Bulk Clean-up Task Force and is currently serving on the President’s Circle committee at Central Penn College.

Mr. Nelson received his undergraduate degree from Delaware State University and is a Certified Franchise Sales Consultant.  He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, the National Black MBA, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity; the Central Penn Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 Award; and the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Pennsylvania Minority Development Award.
