Motown the Musical
It began as one man’s story…
became everyone’s music…
and is now Broadway’s musical.
Motown the Musical is the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and many more. Motown shattered barriers, shaped our lives and made us all move to the same beat. Motown was founded in 1959 when Berry Gordon secured a loan for $800
from his family savings fund and started his own record company in Detroit, Michigan. Within a few years, the label was selling more singles and released more hits than any other record company.
Motown became the most successful African-American owned-and-operated record company and business in the U.S. Now, the Motown story is live on stage in the record-breaking smash hit Motown the Musical! On stage at the Hershey Theatre for eight performances only from Wednesday, July 19th through Sunday, July 23rd. Visit for more details.
