The Importance of Timing
The various holiday and religious seasons are upon us. The nearing of the end of one year and the beginning of a new one is fast approaching. Time is important to us. When I was in school, we spent a lot of time learning how to tell time. Now, in the digital age, the clocks tell you what time it is. The easiest thing is to tell time – but the hardest thing to do is to know what time it is for you.
Is it time to be quiet? Is it time to make a stand? Is it time for action or a time for patience? The writer of Ecclesiastes answers us by saying, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” The writer further admonishes us to, “Be very careful, then, how you live – not foolishly, but wisely, knowing how to make the most out of every opportunity.”
What time is it for you? What opportunities are before you? Be careful missing the time with your family and friends during celebrations and gift-giving time. Maybe it is not the gift that is needed for your loved one, but it’s your time and attention that is valued. Maybe it is time to take a break and hibernate. It could be time for you to get a physical exam or encourage a loved one to do so.
Whatever time or season you are in, live your life on purpose and take advantage of every opportunity. You will notice your well-being nourished and ready for a new outlook, a new adventure and the New Year.
