Dr. Vilas A. Prabhu has served as Millersville University’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs since August 1, 2004. He is the second ranking executive and reports to the president of the University.

As the Chief Academic Officer, the Provost supervises the Deans of the four Colleges—College of Education & Human Services; College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences; College of Science & Technology; and College of Graduate Studies & Adult Learning—and the Director of the Honors College.  The provost also has oversight over library operations, the Office of Global Education and the Office of Learning Services.  In addition, the Associate Provost for Academic Administration, the Assistant Vice President for Assessment & Planning, and the Associate Provost for Civic and Community Engagement & Research Project (CCERP) also report to the Provost.

Dr. Prabhu has numerous honors and awards and serves on many university-wide, system-wide and national committees and task forces. He has also served as the reviewer for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and the North Central Association for Higher Education (NCAHE). Before joining Millersville University, Dr. Prabhu served as a faculty member, chairperson, dean and associate provost at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.  He also served as a member and president on the Weatherford School District Board of Education.

Dr. Prabhu holds a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin, M.S. in pharmacy from Idaho State University, and a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Bombay, India.  Dr. Prabhu also earned an M.B.A. in management and finance from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and is a graduate of Harvard University Institute of Educational Management (IEM).
