Your Real Estate Connection

Open the Door to Your HOME PURCHASING Possibilities! In order to open the door, you will need to open your mind to the endless home purchasing options as well as overcoming inevitable barriers.

Many buyers are defeated before they even start the process because they are convinced, for instance, they’ve ruined their credit. I can assure you, and some of my clients will gladly confirm, that low or blemished credit scores can be repaired, and in some cases, be replaced with better, current credit.

A major culprit or barrier I’ve experienced in my 11 years as a professional realtor is the prospective buyer’s fear of the unknown. I assure you I have not run into a barrier that could not be resolved. The question is are you willing to do what it takes to make that happen?

#1 – Assemble Your TEAM!

  • Licensed realtor
  • Lender
  • Your financial records (Yes, also a member of the team!)
  • Home inspector
  • Insurance agent

You will eventually end up in a written “business relationship” with some of these folks. Be sure to do your due diligence in feeling out your new team members by paying close attention to the way each interacts with you and the other team members. I don’t have to tell you that you are looking for top-notch customer service from each.

Your real estate agent can play a vital role in assisting in navigating through the home purchasing process from beginning to end and taking the lead in communicating between team members.

#2 – Local Agencies

This is a sure-fire great start is utilizing the numerous local organizations offering a smorgasbord of information and assistance for the prospective home buyer. Many offer free home-buyer classes, special financing information and one-on-one mentoring to name a few. Dauphin County and Cumberland County Fair Housing’s 1st Time Homebuyer Programs (Economic Development) are great examples. Nominal fees and even free programs are ideal for ALL folks interested in purchasing real estate. They also provide funds, for those who qualify, which offset some or a good portion of the settlement fees. Just as important, is the great overview of the home buying process including sample forms, scenarios and relevant speakers.

#3 – Patience

Purchasing a home is not an instant process, however it can be very rewarding and worth every ounce of effort. Patience is a great companion.

#4 – SAVE, SAVE, SAVE every penny!

Now grab the door handle and PULL!
